On 15 December 2022, Ecowende, a Joint Venture between Eneco and Shell, was awarded the preliminary permit for the development of an offshore wind farm within the Hollandse Kust West kavel 6 Wind Farm.

What you’ll do

The Sr. Contract Manager Balance of Plant (BoP) will be seconded from the Eneco Wind Offshore Procurement team on a full time basis to Ecowende to become a key member of the small and dynamic project team which is accountable to take the project through construction and operation phase. She / he will also liaise with the Eneco Wind offshore Category Manager on a regular basis.

The primary focus of this role will be Contract management of the major Ecowende construction contract for the BoP scope (foundation T&I, WTG T&I and cables EPCI) during the construction phase. The successful candidate will be responsible to lead the full spectrum of post-award contracts management activities of those contracts (including any variations and/or claim management). It is a front-line project role with a direct reporting into the Ecowende Contract & Procurement Manager. Sr. Contract Manager is to ensure that all contracting and procurement matters for this contract are in accordance with legislation, ethical practices, procurement policies of Ecowende. Sr. Contract Manager will support the BoP package manager in managing all contractual activities to maximize the value for the project in contract management phase.

While seconded to Ecowende, the Sr. Contract Manager remains part of the Eneco Wind Offshore Procurement team and reports to the Head of Wind Offshore Procurement with regular meetings and exchanges to contribute to the Eneco Wind Offshore procurement continuous improvements (e.g. on market knowledge, processes and know-how) and to benefit from the guidance and support of the Eneco Wind Offshore Procurement team (and its experience from previous wind offshore projects). Upon completion of the Ecowende wind offshore farm construction (expected late 2026), the Senior Contract Manager will be able to move within the Eneco Wind Offshore Procurement team to new wind offshore projects or tenders.

Is this about you?

Background:

  • Experience managing EPCI and T&I contracts for balance of plant scopes related to wind offshore projects (foundations and wind turbines installation, cables design, supply and installation,).
  • Excellent spend, claims and variations management in projects.
  • Experience managing, coordinating and optimizing commercial interfaces of the project.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Resilience, adaptability in an evolving organizational structure, independency and leadership welcomed to help structure of new organization.



Requirements:

  • Preference for a strong procurement / contract management professional with a strong performance history and passion for renewables. 
  • Technical or Business University degree (MSc., MBA) or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of contracting and procurement experience (High CAPEX / technical / constructions contracts, FIDIC, and offshore indemnities and insurances). Knowledge of Shell MCL contract template is a plus.
  • At least 5+ years offshore wind experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on post-award contract management of offshore installation or EPCI contracts or complex EPCs or similar contracts is a plus.
  • Team player, "Can do" mentality and capacity to make complex ideas simple are a must.
  • Experience with new ventures / new project is preferred. 
  • Advanced negotiations skills.
  • Strong understanding of the risks of the contract(s) and the potential legal and financial consequences associated therewith.
  • Suppliers' performance management experience. 
  • Effective communicator with proven ability to collaborate and integrate across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills.
  • Hard-working / committed.
  • Fluent in English (oral and writing), Dutch is a plus.
  • Able to work in Ecowende Rijswijk office, with certain flexibility.
  • Available at reasonably short notice (1 month).

You’ll be responsible for

The responsibilities of the Sr. Contract Manager include:

  • Develop and implement contract management plan
  • Challenge changes to determine where unnecessary costs can be eliminated, and more value can be achieved
  • Deal with claims mitigation and challenge cost disputes with suppliers
  • Lead contract negotiations
  • Drive interfaces with other contracts to maximize value to the project
  • Spend, claims and variations management
  • Supplier performance management

Sr. Contract Manager will be based at the Ecowende Joint Venture office located in Rijswijk the Netherlands (hybrid working from home possible for 2 days per week).

The Procurement department is responsible for the entire procurement within Eneco, divided into three categories; Professional Services, Asset Operations, IT and Innovation, Asset Development & Realization.

The Sr contract manager function is part of AD&R.
