Solliciteer direct
  • Accelerate the energy transition using data
  • Significantly improving current proposition
  • Enabling strategic new propositions

Why choose for Eneco?

Eneco has the ambition to lead the energy transition. We excel in the complete chain from energy producing assets to serving customers. This integrated approach connects all Eneco employees and enables us to fulfil our mission. You can feel it throughout the whole organisation, and it leads to multidisciplinary innovations such as Toon, e-Mobility and our Virtual Power Plant. You are going to work at a company large enough to effect real change, within an innovative department that has the flexibility to rival a start-up. Our organisation is open and brimming with energy. At Eneco, anyone with a sharp mind and a positive and active mindset can contribute to a more sustainable world.

What you’ll do

In Eneco's central data science team we create data-driven solutions together with other business units. This team develops the critical IP for Eneco's most strategic programs (called: Lighthouses). One of these programs is called Wright.

Wright aims both to improve current propositions (significantly lowering costs + risks in today's challenging energy markets) and to enable strategic new propositions (that help clients contribute more directly to the Energy transition). How? By connecting advanced ML-based forecasting and pricing models to a fully digitized supply chain.

You will help deliver those ML models through different phases: from research, to PoC, to Pilot to full scale roll-out. This will help to further secure Eneco's position as the leading renewable utility in the Netherlands.

Is this about you?

You can easily adapt to new environments and situations. You have focus, courage and a "can do" attitude. You use these qualities to obtain the goals that you set for yourself in an ever-changing professional environment.
  • MSc in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field.
  • 4+ years of experience working as a data scientist within a company.
  • Knowledge of common data science techniques and statistical methods.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills in English and preferably in Dutch.
  • An interest in the energy domain and innovations therein, and a curious mindset.
  • Ability to independently drive data science projects and to inspire and guide more junior data scientists.
  • Fluent in Python and SQL, experience with Azure, MLFlow, AirFlow and Databricks is a plus.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Identify new ways to improve forecasting and pricing by applying ML and data analytics
  • Test and develop your ideas through hackathons, prototypes, and pilots all the way up to a working product or service.
  • Interact with business stakeholders and data engineers to balance commercial requirements with engineering best practices.
  • Convey the data science way of working within the organisation.
  • Pragmatic approach to data science: able to quickly show results to convince the business, rather than wanting to apply the most complex algorithms.

This is where you’ll work

You will work in Eneco's central data science & AI organization within the dedicated Wright product group. Eneco has a hybrid organisational structure for data science: There is both a central DS&AI team as well as experts embedded within the business organisation.

The DS&AI team's mission is threefold: 1) set up and collaborate in projects that span multiple departments, 2) enable local experts by supplying technology and a consistent way of working, and 3) educate Eneco's business units on adapting a more data driven way of working.
