Virtual Power Plant Operations Manager

You will be part of the Eneco Energy Trading (EET) department and work in a dynamic trading environment. The Energy Operations (EOps) team is responsible for all 24/7 operating processes within the trading department, including the operation of the VPP. 

As VPP Operations Manager you will be primary focusing on the daily operation of the Virtual Power Plant. Your are tasked to ensure our VPP operation is as efficient as possible together with the team of 24/-7 operators. You play a central position between the traders and our assets. You tackle - with the support teams - operational issues as quickly as possible and you drive continuousoperational improvements. You translate the operational needs from the operators to practical solutions, which will be developed and implemented by the development teams. You develop and operationalize "Operational Excellence" to maximize the operational performance. Cooperation with multiple teams is an essential part of the role. You interact on a daily basis with operators, traders, asset managers, commercial managers, IT-developers and data scientists. 

In addition to the daily operation, you are also responsible for a smooth handover from the VPP development team to the operations. You act as the gatekeeper to ensure all operational requirements will be implemented via new product development. You'll also have an the responsibility to make sure the VPP is performing as designed and issues are resolved.

You are the go-to person for the VPP operation, because you have the daily operational insights, the technical know-how and you are aware of the operational challenges ahead concerning new market developments. You will become a true sparring partner for business,development teams and supporting IT teams and as such you are the spin in the wheel driving the VPP forward. You have a holistic view on operation and drives continuous improvements in an energetic way. You have operation experiences in relation to asset steering, balancing and optimization of the asset portfolio.

•    You have a Master's degree with a operational and/or technical focus. Also, you have at least 5 years of relevant experience in operation related activities,  energy markets, and/or in IT development. 
•    You put operations always first in mind - you are flexible pending on the urgent operational needs.
•    You are comfortable discussing details with your expert colleagues, as well as communicating your findings in layman's terms: you act both at strategic, technical and operational level and are able to switch between technical and business stakeholders.
•    You have strong communication skill and the ability to pick-up complex topics fast and translate them into practical solutions.
•    You take initiative, you can cope in a demanding operational environment, you can prioritize well, and you can easily connect to people from other departments.

You'll work on the VPP as part of team Energy Operations in department Eneco Energy Trade (EET). Energy Operations is young team responsible for the implementation, optimization and operations of our power portfolio. Team Energy Operations is a team of around 20 people: 8 operators are responsible for the daily 24/7 operations, 12 analysts are responsible for the delivery of operational projects. We are working in an innovative, complex IT-environment. As the operations is sometimes dynamic, we expect you to be flexible around your working hours.
