Eneco is a vertically integrated energy company aiming to be carbon neutral in 2035. We invest heavily in renewable energy, heat, and flexible assets such as batteries and sell this energy to our customers. Eneco Energy Trade (EET) is at the heart of Eneco, managing all commodity positions of Eneco. The Data Operations Specialist will report to the Head of Data & AI in the Operations & IT department of EET. This role will be linked to the Operational Excellence program in the Business Change Management process at EET and work in close cooperation with Data Solution and other EET architects. Furthermore, the Data Operations Manager actively collaborates with EET business teams to gather the requirements for data validation, quality monitoring, alerting and reporting, and assist technical data stewards within EET IT teams in translating those requirements into data operations workflows using tooling available at central Eneco IT departments.

What you’ll do

Do you have extensive experience as a Data Operations Specialist and want to join a dynamic and innovative organization? Your primary responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining data quality standards, managing data integration processes, and enforcing data governance policies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts and IT professionals, to understand data requirements and implement effective operational solutions. The role involves but is not limited to database management, monitoring data processes, and implementing automation to enhance operational efficiency.

Your expertise will be crucial in establishing and enforcing data governance policies, safeguarding sensitive information, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Is this about you?

  • Degree in a STEM related field (such as computer science, information technology, data engineering, etc.)
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a similar role in a similar business environment (preferably energy markets).
  • Extensive experience with Azure cloud solutions and services. Knowledge of AWS and GCP is a pre.
  • A good understanding of data warehousing (such as Snowflake), DBT, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Familiarity with different data platforms and technologies such as relational/NoSQL databases, data storage solutions such as blob, and data streaming solutions such as Kafka, etc.
  • Experience with programming languages, data quality, and data operation monitoring tools.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Grafana, etc.
  • Able to communicate empathetically with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills in English. Communication skills in Dutch are a pre.
  • Possess a customer-friendly disposition and can get a solid understanding of business requirements via collaborative discussions with business teams.
  • A solution-driven analytical mindset combined with design thinking skills to conceive custom workflows meeting business requirements for validation/quality monitoring and alerting for data processes.
  • Possesses an enthusiastic and proactive personality and takes ownership and accountability of the undertaken work.
  • Keen interest in new and upcoming technologies, methodologies, and concepts linked to data operations and processes.

You’ll be responsible for

  • You have a customer-friendly disposition and can get a solid understanding of business requirements via collaborative discussions with business teams.
  • You can develop and manage the EET data quality program and associated governance strategy to improve the reliability of data processes and the quality of resulting data.
  • You can collaborate with EET IT teams (and their tech leads if applicable) to design data monitoring and validation pipelines to ensure robust process/quality checks and alerting for data related processes.
  • You are also involved in ensuring that the data monitoring and validation pipelines are set up following the data governance and security frameworks advocated by the Eneco central IT departments as per the federated governance pillar of the Data Mesh framework.
  • You engage with other architects at EET and Eneco to assist in creating a landscape that meets the current and future data quality, monitoring and alerting needs of EET.
  • You assist in increasing the data maturity of EET business and IT teams to make them aware of best practices in the areas of data operations, ownership, stewardship, and other aspects.

Gross annual salary between €60.000 and €80.000
